Tokyo Ghoul, Vol. 5
by Sui Ishida
Probably one of my favourite volumes so far. We’re introduced to Juzo and learn of Riza. This is a pretty disturbing series at times but I’m really liking the parallels between humans and “meat”, and how we demonize ghouls despite we ourselves consuming meat in mass amounts.
I always appreciate when books do that because I myself feel very similarly. I almost feel worse for the ghouls than the humans when I read this manga. Ghouls have to eat humans due to having no other source of food, while humans choose to kill even if we don’t ‘have’ to.
Who’s really evil in this? I’d say both and neither simultaneously.
