Shine Not Burn by Elle Casey

I kinda expected more from this book after reading all of the glowing reviews on here and on Amazon. Guess I set my expectations a little too high, because to be honest, I had to struggle to finish this. It wasn't terrible, per say, but it wasn't good, either. My biggest gripe was the book itself wasn't extremely well-written. Some of the sentences flowed awkwardly and I just couldn't really get into it. At some points I felt like the writing was juvenile. Secondly, the heroine annoyed the freaking living cheese out of me. Ugh, seriously. She made stupid decisions and her personality wasn't that great, either. I honestly couldn't (and still can't) figure out why Mack loved her so much. Which brings me to my next point: there was minimal chemistry between two. I barely felt the connection at all. Physical, maybe, but emotional? Didn't feel it was there. There was little development in general between the two leads.

I tacked on the one extra star because I honestly feel like the story had so much potential. Accidentally getting married without even realizing it? That's a pretty unique storyline to me. Unfortunately, the story's downfall is that it isn't executed well. The extra star is also for the price of this book, 99 cents, which is reasonable. Kinda difficult to beat that.

Bottom line: I woulnd't recommend this unless maybe if you're bored.
