Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

I finally read this, people! I can't believe it took me so long to get to book 2 in The Lunar Chronicles series. I read Cinder by the end of November 2014, which means it took me a little over a year to continue. Horrible, right? I'm not even sure why I didn't pick this up sooner because ... I loved it. It was amazing! Marissa Meyer's writing style is incredible. I love how easy it is to read everything but also how detailed she describes the world and its surroundings. Not the mention the characters because they're equally amazing.

Besides meeting some characters from the first book - which made me very, very happy! -, we were also introduced to so many new ones. First there's Scarlet Benoit and let me just tell you: She is such a fascinating character. I loved how she didn't take shit from others - especially guys - and how she always stood up for the things that were important to her. She's fierce, knows how to kick ass and at the same time she's also kinda cute, caring and feminine. I loved that!

Then there's Wolf. Oh my god. I was intrigued by him the minute he entered the scene. I didn't really know what to think of him at first ... he was super quiet, very careful but had this dangerous vibe coming off of him. I wanted to know more about him. Like, seriously. I'm always captivated by those mysterious, quiet guys where you never really know what goes on in their minds. I can't help it, oh well.

Oh and let's not forget about Captain Thorne Carswell. He's been hilarious right from the beginning and made me laugh out loud so many times with his funny remarks. I loved the team-up with Cinder and liked these two together a lot ... it just worked, even though they wanted to strangle each other most of the time, haha. I'm very excited to find out more about him in the other books!

Red Riding Hood has always been one of my favorite fairy tales when I was a kid, so naturally I loved the story a lot. Scarlet's grandmother is missing and so she desperately tries to find her with the help of Wolf. I loved this little twist because ... well, you know how things are but obviously things are different in Scarlet. There were some other little twists and turns that I didn't expect but made me love the book even more and only added to its epicness.

I'm not quite sure how much I liked the ending ... some cruel things happened but overall it was a little predictable and didn't shock me as much as I hoped it would. I still love the book and characters a lot and therefore can't rate it differently. This series is AMAZING. Everyone should check it out and fall in love with Marissa's stories. Please do me that favor ... like, RIGHT NOW. :D

Marissa did it again! I just freaking adore this series. ♥ Scarlet is such a great character and I love her so, so much ... and Wolf. Oh my, I hope I'll get more of these two in the next book(s)! Especially also of THORNE. I love this funny guy already! :D
