How to Be a Good Creature: A Memoir in Thirteen Animals by Sy Montgomery

reflective slow-paced

4.0

Sy Montgomery leads an intimate life wrapped up in the creatures she encounters. Her memoir weaves the lives of these creatures with lessons she's learned from them. She reveres each animal, describes them in a way only a loved one could. The adoration for these creatures and their lives seeps through each page. It gave me a different perspective on the wildlife of this world, to see it as its own being and not revolving around me and my experiences (that spider isn't scary, it's a living, breathing organism that just happened to take up rent near me - an eight-legged roommate, if you will).

I'm not a huge non-fiction reader, but I love unique memoirs like this one. Would recommend.
