Dead Man's Folly by Agatha Christie

4.0

I loved where the story was placed. It was such a beautiful landscape to imagine, full of greenery and old buildings. Now to the plot, one half of the truth/twist was really very apparent since so much depended on this facade of the girl being someone else and appearing to be someone else. The second part of it I did not expect, no sir. It's based on one of those facts that is mentioned like once in the whole story and that too while the characters are being introduced. Same thing happened with me while reading Mysterious Affair at Styles; it was mentioned that someone was someone else's relative and I didn't take it in/didn't understand it because I wasn't in full groove yet. And it turns out at the end of the story that I wasn't even aware of the crucial fact/ link that brought about the knowledge of the actual murderer. I am just saying that I would have liked it a lot better if it was mentioned to me just once more so that I could have an actual 'oooh' moment and not the 'wtf, where was that thing mentioned' moment.
I like the whole set up and loved having so many characters. I also got the whole someone else's secret suspicious activity getting mixed up with the suspicious chain of events involved in the murder part of the plot, so I am happy. Maybe I would add a part where someone else gets suspected too. But you cannot have everything.
One question though: Was it ever mentioned what Sally Legge was doing near the folly? I just can't seem to remember it ever being explained how her bracelet or part of it ended up in the concrete. What was she doing if she was not having tea?
