Beautiful World, Where Are You by Sally Rooney

1.0

I read a book. The cover was blue, the title in black. The writing was pretentious. The author didn’t signal dialogues like a normal human being. She wanted to write awkwardness. I guess she succeeded. Reading about these characters felt like spoon feeding myself raw flour. It was rainy outside. Books usually make you feel better about life on rainy nights.

Not this one.

Did you think this review was ABSURDLY BORING? Good luck with this book then, the entire thing reads exactly like this.

✅ no personality

✅ writing that makes you feel like reading an encyclopedia would be more entertaining

✅ I don’t understand, I’m sorry I really don’t

✅ I felt dead inside reading this. I really did

✅ where’s the flavor?

✅ pacing? Flow? We don’t know her

✅ how, why, why did this win a Goodreads awards

✅ I guess “classic/old school” writing will continue to be praised even if it makes ZERO SENSE - and it doesn’t make the reader feel a single thing

✅ If this was the last book on earth I’d never read again
