The Temple of My Familiar by Alice Walker
3.0
DNF a little over halfway through. I am disappointed because I loved The Color Purple and Meridian, and this book is supposed to be a follow up to The Color Purple. However, Celie and Shug are mentioned briefly and then promptly forgotten.
There is no real conflict or plot most of the time, it's just people telling stories. Which is fine, but I wish there was something to pique the reader's interest.
I don't completely hate it because I love the way Walker writes about complex issues regarding gender, race, and sexuality. So I'll give it 3 stars.
