An ok story that's held up by strong world building!

The world is large and feels well thought out. Though we only explore a fraction of it in this novel, how it all connects and how towns/villages/society functions makes sense in the setting. There are lots of names for various things and concepts in the world, perhaps in excess at times where something might a easily have been explained by using a "normal" name, but it does lend a lot of power to the world building.

I did find the story to be a bit weaker though. It feels pretty simple and short, it's heading felt very obvious throughout as any potential twist or event was (too) clearly foreshadowed. Though to be fair, it is a YA novel and I am not a young adult.
