Thank you Libro.fm, the author, and Random House Canada for the #gifted audio! 🎧 The audio was done well, and I would recommend this format.💖

🌊 Second Chance Romance
🌊YA Aspects
🌊Friends to Lovers
🌊Small Town + Summer Vibes
The atmosphere gave off the perfect summer vibes!! I could see the lake house, the banana boat sunscreen, the beach towels, fun-colored swimsuits, etc. It was all so nostalgic, and it made me smile. I love a book that can let you see the atmosphere.
This was messy. In the sense that both FMC and the MMC are going through their own coming of age story, emotions (SO MANY), tension, dreams, and lots of layers to each bit. There was also a heavy bit on cultural differences and being the children of immigrants: the pressure, the idea of living the American Dream, etc which I always love to read about because I can relate. It tugs at the heart strings.
I am also not a fan of miscommunication buttttt seeing that these characters were also teens at points, makes sense. While the FMC was not my favorite, I understood her.
‼️ I think my complaint is that I wish this was more character driven rather than story driven? I feel like the characters were robbed of decisions and it took away from the story. And although this had bits of YA which I usually do not mind, at times I just did not relate to it. The "I have strict parents" trope was a bit repetitive throughout and I found myself saying "Ok we know that..."
➡️ I do recommend!
