Night and Silence by Seanan McGuire
5.0
Once you get past the exposition-heavy beginning--a forgivable sin when there's so much backstory and so little time--the main story is a solid, mostly stand-alone case that leaves room for starting to deal with the fallout of the previous book, as well as bringing in key players to set the stage for the big things that are clearly in the pipeline.
