Omg okay so I actually love this book. There were a few plot holes/easy way outs and it is definitely very similar to other fantasy books (mainly red queen and the hunger games), like sometimes a little too similar, but nonetheless I love. I was kind of speed running this at some points because a) I thought I couldn’t renew it and only had like 5 days to read over half the book and b) I was in the Swiss alps and read this on the bus and other times when I had a few minutes to spare, so these maybe slightly effected my reading and made me not feel things as deeply.

But god KAI AZER!! OBSESSED!!!! I did accidentally get it spoiled that he killed her dad which was a crazy spoiler to get. And I kind of had a feeling that Adena would be the “criminal” at the end of the third trial but I did not foresee Paedyn killing the king (a little too easy). BUT NOW KITT WILL HAVE HIS VILLAIN ORGIN STORY AND I HATE IT! Like Kitt was so sweet why😭 And I just want Kai and Paedyn to be together😭

I can’t wait for the next book though to see Kai and Paedyn encounter eachother and see Kai continue to struggle with duty and emotions. And her struggle with hatred but also emotions.

Oh and I called it that the resistance was going to pull some crazy shit for their “reveal”. Like that’s so dumb that Paedyn didn’t ask for ANY of their plans. So it’ll be interesting to see her work with them and if the resistance is actually good or if it’s like a Coin from the Hunger Games type thing. I’m sooooooooo curious.

Also I did read somewhere (maybe another spoiler or maybe just in the second book description, idk) that Kai will “go across enemy lines for Paedyn” so I’m so curious. Because we could see the spark of questioning from Kai about ordinaries, whereas Kitt was more of a firm believer in what his father said.

Basically I’m just obsessed with Kai and this book.
