I have mixed feelings about this book. There's a lot of practical, useful and implementable advice in it. The broad range of people Tim Ferriss includes is a positive because depending on your goals, personality and needs there are some basics that will be applicable to you. For this type of book that is crucial because what works for one person may not work for another and I'm not a fan of books that offer one solution as being the only way.
Like Ferriss I enjoy reading about the routines and habits of people. They're interesting beyond trying to use as advice for life. It is a delight to be offered a window into someone else's life to see what they do regularly and how it relates to their priorities and pursuits. Where it falls apart for me is that it wasn't precisely routines and habits. I did make a lot of notes and bookmarked many pages because they were fundamentally interesting and it's a book I will revisit. The editing, however, does give it more of an advice feel. I was less enthused about that angle because many of the included individuals have routines that are not as accessible/applicable to every day life.
The degree to which I fault the book on this front is limited as the title does indicate that the included individuals are at the top of their fields or have at least achieved success in financial as well as professional spheres and so some of the routines will be out of reach.
It is pretty close to the book I expected and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading random routines, advice and recommendations from a variety of walks of life. Ferriss didn't go too aspirational with it and I appreciate that. I do wish there had been more of the "routines" involved as it seemed to be more heavy on the tactics but as I said, I know I'll be returning to sections that were interesting or compelling.
