A story about a woman with terminal illness who wants to end her life on her own terms. She brings her family together and then a. Organised her ‘I’m dead’ press release to go out before she died so she could see what people say about her. And b. Doesn’t tell her kids beforehand about her illness or her plans.

What I found most wild about this story is
after her kids find out that she has doctor’s on hand to provide assisted dying the next day, she spends a lot of time alone. Even if you didn’t love your parent or truly connect, wouldn’t you want to spend as much time asking them questions as you can? The best part was when Dava sits down with her grandkids and has a true honest conversation with them for what is seemingly the first time ever.
