Nice Girls Don't Win

Possibly my most anticipated book of the year. Parvati talks about looking up to women like Britney Spears and Sarah Michelle Gellar in Buffy in her childhood- that’s what she was for me. I remember feeling acutely aware, even at 10 years old, that the way she played Survivor and connected with alliances in deep and meaningful ways was something to be watched and emulated. This book made me feel the way that Parvati described working with therapists through her divorce- I felt seen, I felt heard and I felt held. Parvati’s brave dive into an honest conversation about the worlds perception of women who don’t behave in a way that they’re expected to or the arduous journey of healing yourself after trauma is something I won’t soon forget. Long live the Black Widow Brigade! ❤️❤️❤️
