The concept of a queer commune in a little village is so interesting to me but this book doesn’t really do anything with it, and is really quite boring, which is a shame because it has potential. I was about 70% of the way through and it still felt like nothing had happened. The side characters (Rosalia, Jamie, Lisa) were all far more interesting than the two leads, which led to all the moments they weren’t in feeling dull.
It also felt like there was no chemistry shown between El and Ray, so the payoff of them getting together falls flat.
