Aetherbound by E.K. Johnston
5.0
A fairytale in space. That’s what Aetherbound is. And it’s a very good fairytale as well. It is about Pendt Harland is a girl who can connect to the Aether, but not in the way her Aunt / Captain wishes. Only Star Sense is truly valued, while Electro-sense is tolerated. Pendt has Grain-Sense and as a result she is deemed worthless and is only kept alive until she is old enough to be sold into marriage. Before this can happen she escapes onto Brannik Station and encounters Ned— who wants to leave and join the Rebellion but can’t because his genes are the only thing keeping the station and it’s people save; and Fisher— who wants to run the station but can’t because he doesn’t have the right genes to do so. Pendt is a gift to them both, as they are to her. Together, they get all they ever wanted, and more.
A great four star read.
