I’m trying hard not to compare this one to Cemetery Boys, but it’s hard. CB by Aiden Thomas was a lot of fun to read. There was a natural ebb and flow to the story, the characters were lovable, it was thrilling, and the romantic chemistry felt so genuine. I read it in early 2021 and it remains one of my favourite books of the year. So yes, I went into Lost in the Never Woods with high expectations. With CB I couldn’t stop reading, with this one I read quickly just to get it over with. The writing was sort of off, pacing epically slow, Wendy and Peter spent a good chunk of the book running around distracted without any sort of a plan to find the missing kids, and the romance between them was mildly disturbing with the difference in age at the beginning. At best it just felt forced. Added an extra star because I loved CB so much, and for this I’ll keep reading this author’s books.
