I did like this, though not as much as the first one. The miscommunications between Brishen and Ildiko was annoying because of how well they usually communicate. A bit more plot than the first book, but I missed Brishen & Ildiko being together for most of it. Also the (complete) climax seemed a bit off the page which I found… odd. Despite these issues I still enjoyed it, and perhaps much of the above was discovering characters under pressure. Ildiko remains so poised and capable, I love her as an ordinary woman whose inner strength is extraordinary.
