Hester by Laurie Lico Albanese

3.0

The writing and the story were fine if you look at it purely from a reading perspective, but I think the title is misleading as it sort of implies this is a prequel to The Scarlet Letter or at the very least that story told from Hester’s point of view. I wasn’t super into what it actually was - a fictionalized version of life in the 17th and 18th centuries in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s life, and exploring where he may have gotten his inspiration from. Please note that I listened to the audiobook, so some of my overall confusion on the plot/etc may have come from the audio version not being the most engaging.
