Holy Envy: Finding God in the Faith of Others by Barbara Brown Taylor

4.5

This book was recommended to me years ago by an undergrad professor, but I remembered it and felt the time to read it was now. This book exceeded my expectations and addressed important questions of faith with humility, mysticism, and love. Barbara Brown Taylor inspired a new love and appreciation for my own tradition while opening my eyes to new interpretations of scriptures that are typically weaponized to exclude others, and claim triumph and supremacy. Taylor presents helpful frameworks for understanding the limitlessness of the God and the ways that the world's great religions all teach us important things about humanity and divinity. I would highly recommend this book. I was never bored once and I wish it was longer.
