Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross

3.0

I've been going back and forth about what I should rate this book.

What I liked:
- The story premise.
- My heart ached for Iris and her family troubles (I think the author did a good job with showing us grief).
- I like the office rivals.
- I like how Iris had courage to face the unknown.
- Loved the letters and pouring ones heart into them.
- I enjoyed the writing and life lessons.
- Lastly, I liked the romance between her and Roman, it was sweet and very innocent.

What I disliked:
- These were teenagers (who where made to act like adults) being placed in difficult (and unlikely) situations.
- Nothing really happened in this book if you really think about it.
- The war really didn't make much sense to me (what in the Hades/Persephone is going on here). I need to stop reading war books, it's not my thing anymore or I just need a break from it
- This one is a spoiler:
Spoiler The main reason for Iris to become a war correspondent was to find her brother. At the end of the book, her brother finds her and instead of leaping with joy, she's scared of him . I get she wants to get to Roman, but really?

The main reason as to why this isn't a 4 star read for me: Do I want to read the second book? No. I'm not inclined to. Atlas, this is still a solid read!
