The Harlequin Tea Set and Other Stories by Agatha Christie

challenging dark tense medium-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? No
  • Loveable characters? It's complicated
  • Diverse cast of characters? No
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

3.5

With the exception of one Hercule case that was in this book, all the other stories by Agatha, Christie were new to me.

I found that the only connection between all the stories had to do with relationships, both romantic and familiar relationships, and some of them had to do with  friend relationships. Not every story dealt with murder but there was an element of death and oftentimes manipulation in each short story.

The last one short story of this book, the Harlequin tea set mystery, was the most challenging to get through. I was kind of confused regarding the main character, and if he was suffering from all timers, and the story he was hearing about this family was actually his own story, and he just didn't remember it. So, when he met up with a family, it felt like the energy between them was strange, however  That ended up not being the case so that one was probably my least favorite story out of the entire book.
