adventurepanda 's review for:
Lucky in Love
by Kasie West
Forgot to review this back when I read it but I didn't like it. I found myself wanting to skip bits or give up altogether because the whole lottery thing was annoying me. Well, not the lottery itself, but the protagonist's (I actually can't remember her name) reaction to it. I think it was the whole boat party thing just made me irrationally angry. I don't know it came across really stupid to me.
I still like Kasie West's writing but this one didn't have that same page-turning quality to it that her other books did. To be fair to her, I think the whole plot of a girl winning the lottery and the repercussions of that were never really going to be my thing, but I gave it a shot and at least I can now say for sure that I'm not a fan. I did like the guy (all I can remember is that he's at least half-Vietnamese?) but he didn't appear much and the build up of the relationship was more of a rushed feeling at the end which was a shame.
2 stars because I didn't hate it but it's definitely my least favourite Kasie West book to date.
