Green Lantern: New Guardians, Volume 1: The Ring Bearer by Tony Bedard

4.0

Love it! What a page turner! What great art, especially the full page spreads. As much as I like the GL and GLC ones, something about having more than green on them makes these even better!

I really liked when the GL family of comics broke out into the emotional spectrum in Blackest Night. This continuation of those corps is really fun! We get some character advancement and some well-deserved answers about how the orange constructs are sentient. My only nag about this volume is how the enemy, Invictus, is so powerful that he can create and control as he does. Wasn't much origin to his abilities. It left a hole in my mind that cries out to be filled. As is, he's just an omnipotent baddie.

This is just a fun comic, complete with "Thwack, fwoosh, and vroops" aplenty. The volume ends on a cliffhanger and I'm awaiting the next volume to be released on Comixology!
