13 Ways of Looking at a Fat Girl by Mona Awad

5.0

At times, this book was difficult to read, but it captured the specific mental prison of diet culture, how much room exercise and food take up in your brain, how even if you do lose weight, it doesn’t grant any freedom or real pleasure. I admire how unflinchingly the author captured this perspective. The narrator wasn’t right or good; she didn’t grow. But she was viscerally real.
