Crash & Burn by Lisa Gardner

4.0

This book was interesting as hell. I've always enjoyed a James Patterson or John Sandford novel on the beach, by the pool, or when I'm in the mood for something intriguing, juicy, and scandalous. Even Rizzoli and Isles can quench my thirst on a good day. I'm now adding Lisa Gardner to that list because what a story teller.

Yes, the dialogue is cheesy and you get the whole noble cop/investigator language that sort of makes you roll your eyes because it's too over the top, but the real meat of these mass-market detective novels is the drama and how does an author manipulate you to turn the page?

Lisa Gardner straight up fooled me. I can usually guess a twist or piece together details enough to come close enough that I'm not impressed when The drumroll event is revealed. The twist in this novel is the gift that keeps on giving. It hits you, one right after the other, constantly changing direction. At the end of the novel you're so tired of chasing the facts and trying to solve the riddle that you feel out of breath, like you've been on a wild ride.

Overall a very satisfying and fun read. I read this in under 4 hours I believe, so great for a long plane ride. I will definitely be adding more of her to my list to see what else her mind has to offer!
