St. Peter's Fair by Ellis Peters

Another charming entry in the series. I think the thing I love most about these books is the quality of mercy and goodness that is imbued within. I love that Brother Cadfael has a past as worldly soldier, and that it has left him with the knowledge of what people are like, but that he has come down on the side of optimism and love.

The 12th century is the last time period I would think to write a series about the value of people, but somehow, the author made it work for her.
