Where the World Ends by Geraldine McCaughrean

5.0

This book was so visceral & evocative, I don't even know where to begin. The last third of it grabbed me by the loops of my collarbones and screamed in my face (yes this is a reference). I loved it, and I know that it will stay on my mind for a very long time, as did the last McCaughrean book I read nearly 20 years ago. Just so satisfyingly rich with tragedy, the boys' culture, religion and fear, in an organic way. I've been mostly dissatisfied with a lot of the novels I've read lately, this made me feel alive again? God that sounds so maudlin, but it did ... at THIS exact weird time in my life, it did.
