The Counselors by Jessica Goodman
4.0

I flew through this book. I loved the summer camp setting and the quick chapters that bounced back and forth between the past and present. It didn’t feel like the author or narrator were intentionally holding information back from the reader for extended periods of time, which I appreciated.

I like the themes of this author’s books (female friendship, first loves, outsiders who get a chance to feel like insiders, the feeling of being trapped in a small town). She adds new layers in each book, but I’ve also read all three of her novels in a short period, which makes some of the overlapping themes feel a bit too noticeable.

Definitely would recommend this to someone who wants a quick, suspenseful read.
