Battle Royale: Remastered
by Koushun Takami
took me too long to read since previous reads have taken me two weeks max, but i have been busy. my opinions on this haven't changed much: it's a riveting read that's hard to put down. but at the same time, it's depressing as there's the constant reminder that these are kids forced to kill one another.
fascism destroys nations, people, souls. and unfortunately, the youth are some of the most vulnerable to the suffering that can occur under such regimes—and i think that's exemplified in the novel and all that occurs here. the characters here aren't all necessarily helpless kids but one thing is true: they are all victims of a system they cannot control.
