A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

4.0

Oh, this was fun!

The main characters Pip and Ravi are charming, the investigation aspect of the story was really intriguing, and the back and forth of suspects kept me reading. This book was actually incredibly bingeable, which is exactly the kind of story I wanted! If you want just a solid mystery story, this is a good pick.

The writing was a bit simple and not incredibly descriptive, but it is a YA book and I think it serves its audience well. Progress also seemed a bit too easy for Pip - her parents were pretty much down for her doing anything, which, nice, they're supportive, but also ??

My only other, idk if this is a criticism, is something I haven't seen other people mention so I'm not sure if I'm just looking way too deep into this. But the small age difference between Pip and Ravi (17 and 20) threw me for a bit, especially when it seemed that they were heading towards something more romantic. In later books I think it's not an issue (I assume in the next book, Pip is going to college and is older?), but idk. It tripped me up a little.

Not the most unique plot, but definitely interesting and kept me reading. I will be picking up the next books!
