The Grand Sophy by Georgette Heyer

I normally enjoy Heyer for her humor and active, interesting heroines and this was no exception BUT. Ooff. Real Shylock situation with that evil money lender. He had and I quote a ‘Semitic’ nose?? Classics often slap you in the face with some kind of racism so I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised but honestly I was! It’s difficult for me to rate the book because the rest of it had a lot of merit as far as its treatment of women was concerned.
