Inamorata by Megan Chance
3.0

Another book delivered to me a few years back from the Kindle First program. Honestly, I didn't think I was going to make it through this book. I was ready to declare this to be my very first DNF at 27%, but I pushed through and I was pleasantly surprised. This book, in that first ⅓, was excruciatingly slow. Every sentence was heavy-handed with a dollop too much of an attempt at allure. It was almost there, but not quite. Frankly, the book was trying too hard, and allowed the exposition to meander along for far too long. But, once I emerged from that first third and settled into the characters and setting (once they both settled into themselves), the atmosphere took care of itself. The allure was far more unaffected and organic to the story, once anchored within the pages. The tone felt better, the pacing improved, and the dialogue flowed naturally in the story.
