Bought to Carry His Heir by Jane Porter

4.0

Another reviewer noted in their review that you either love this book or you hate it. I loved it.

Reclusive billionaire Nikos hires med student Georgia to be a surrogate. He bought her egg and the use of his body. In her fifth month of pregnancy he demands that she comes to his small Greek island and spend the third trimester in his care. She initially refuses, but negotiates an additional fee and travels to the remote island to finish the pregnancy.

What she finds when she get there causes her all sorts of concerns for the unborn baby. Nikos is a man driven by demons that appear to be tearing him apart.

From the very beginning of the book you find a scarred, hostile, morose man who seemingly has no joy in life. Georgia, no meek pushover, stands up to Nikos attempts to take control of her and gives as good as she gets. The sparks between them start to moment the first meet.

What I loved most about this Beauty and the Beast story is how wonderful Nikos is under all his pain and distrust. He married a woman who devastated him as a man and blamed himself for her death. He depth of compassion is heartbreaking.

Georgia has her own demons that she is battling about walking away from her child at the end of the pregnancy, but she needed to make sure that she helped Niko through his trauma.

This was a very satisfying read. I finished it with the feeling that the protagonists accomplished something. They found a way to heal together. It left me happy.
