This really is one of the most prettiest covers that exist. And I even liked the book more than I thought I would. I don't like gore or body horror or too much violence. And that's all I knew about the book beforehand. But I still read it and I'm glad I did. Don't get me wrong, I hated the bloody body horror parts but I loved the relationships and the queerness, I loved that the cast of characters was almost entirely female. Loved the different dynamics between girls in extreme situations, loved how badass but also fragile they were. And I loved the explanation at the end. Usually with these kind of weird plots, there is either no explanation at all or one I hate. But this one I personally really liked. However, the way it was presented at the very end was a little too convenient and sudden for my taste.
Graphic: Blood, Body horror, Child death, Chronic illness, Confinement, Death, Death of parent, Gore, Grief, Medical content, and Violence
