The MANIAC by Benjamín Labatut

4.0

For lovers of history of math, computer science and artificial intelligence, this is a fantastic fictionalization of a documentary-type story that’s massively researched. Women hardly make an appearance, but that’s not terribly surprising, and credit to the author for finding inventive ways to include their viewpoint. I didn’t love the audiobook narrator, but it’s still a great book. I really appreciated that the author didn’t pontificate, but gives a lot of things to think about given the prevalence of large language models and artificial intelligence.
