Cold Storage by David Koepp

5.0

Here is the thing, when screenwriters write a novel, they don't waste words or space. David Koepp wrote the screenplay for Jurassic Park and War of the Worlds. He knows this shit and he knows it better than anyone in the business.

Everything about this book moves at a breakneck speed and there is a sense of economy and minimalism in the story. Nothing wasted and nothing extra. It's a lean, mean machine of a novel that you can finish reading in 6-7 hours. I know, because I did. It's so much fun to read a book that is pure story and doesn't go off on tangents that have nothing to do with the story.

This book is fun! Like watching a brilliant action movie. I hope they make a movie out of this!

What is it about? A dangerous fungus that grows and super speed and kills anything it touches! It's been locked under the ground in a military facility for 30 years but the place is not a storage unit and the fungus is ready to come out of there. This book is about how it does that and how our protagonists manage to stop it.

More than the horror and the thrill parts of this book, I loved the human angles of this one. I'd love to see Roberto and Trinni's previous adventures. Mr. Koepp, if you read this by any change, the banter between the two was brilliant! More stories with these two!
