The Life Impossible by Matt Haig

5.0

I would give this 10 stars if I could.

I read some earlier reviews criticizing the scifi aspects as lacking reality. Don't we grownups need a little hopeful magic right now? Also it's called fiction for a reason :)
I occassionally read YA fantasy and am thrilled to find an adult book so well written that is paranormal adjacent. We are at a point in history where escapes like these are much needed.

This is a damn good story of loss, depression, hope, friendship, love and redemption. Also the animal stories... nailed it.

FAVE EXCERPT....
"Life sings and blazes. Even when we are numb to it, when we hide from it, when it is too loud and painful to experience, when we aren't equipped to feel it - it is there, waiting, to be cherished and protected, ready to give us at least one more blast of beauty before the night. [[Ode to a sunset]]
