3.5
A quick and easy read - a palate cleanser, honestly, when you want something a little more lighthearted. (Though it doesn’t always stay that way full disclosure.)
I remember the first time I read this series back in high school and how enamored I was by the idea of witches and magic and these beautiful ceremonies celebrating life and nature. They felt so otherworldly and mysterious. In a way they still do.
For this book, I think the real draw is Morgan though. She’s the perfect narrator because how many of us felt like her at some point in life - okay in life, happy, but a little shy a little unsure, unable to fit comfortably in our own skin. But we see her grow and stand up for herself and realize what she wants and fight for it, even if it costs her something so precious to her.
Yes there are cheesy moments and inevitable petty teen angst but you know what? Loved it lol.
