Butter: A Novel of Food and Murder by Asako Yuzuki

If eating exactly what she wants and having men following in her footsteps results in their deaths, then that’s a perfect crime of truly delicious proportions.

Came for the cover blurb, stayed for sensual and delicious food descriptions, and chewed over the reflections of relationships, community, womanhood, misogyny, and how the world perceives you (and whether you let that affect your own self worth). It was richer than I expected, and quite meandering at times, but nonetheless engrossing. There seems to be a lot to take away which makes me unsure what to take away... Besides the many food and cooking passages that called to my heart.

Blood and butter both hardened in no time – which was why she would be okay.
