Dear Mr. Brody by A.M. Johnson

5.0

What an absolutely heartwarming bi-wakening book between two amazing characters. Things to look for in this book:

Bi-awakening ✔️
Single dad ✔️
Professor/student ✔️
Dual POV ✔️
Great side characters ✔️
Adorable dating app convos ✔️

Donovan is 33 and is newly divorced from his wife after she cheated on him. While Donovan was all in with his marriage, he always knew that he was also attracted to men. So once he becomes single, he is hyper aware that he is able to explore that side of himself.

Parker is a 24 year old veteran who is openly gay, but has past trauma from things that happened while in the military.

Parker and Donovan meet when Donovan is Parker’s professors for one of his introductory writing classes and their attraction is instant. But both know that nothing can happen. So they both end up on the same dating app and end up talking to each other without knowing who they are talking to. And once they find out, they are both already in too deep and can’t stop themselves from exploring this relationship. But we all know how relationships like this can possibly end.

I loved the connection between these two characters. A.M. Johnson truly makes their connection so deep with how similar they are with their likes and feelings. The introduction of intimacy between the two characters felt so natural and Parker was really the best first partner for Donovan. He helped him on his new journey and neither ever turned back.

I also really enjoyed watching the relationship between Donovan’s daughter Anne and Parker blossom. They hit it off from the very beginning and they formed their own little bond. There is so much more I want to say, but if you are looking for a low angst, ADORABLE, MM bi-awakening book; then this is the book for you.
