I learned a lot about the haenyeo by reading this book, and also more about Korean history. The last twenty pages of the book truly were fabulous and a twist that I didn't totally see coming. Here's a set of lines I loved: "'They did this to me. They did that to me.' A woman who thinks that way will never overcome her anger. you are not being punished FOR your anger. You're being punished BY your anger." (page 350) Definitely recommend if you're into historical fiction and women and inter generational relationships!
