5.0

Since her father’s death Laketon’s mother had been having money issues. She finally found a job, however it was miles away from Texas. They moved to Michigan were Lake and her little brother, Kel, would have to start from zero. Just as they arrived to the new house Lake and Kel met Will and Caulder, their neighbours. Kel and Caulder were the same age thus they became friends instantly. Lake and Will connect instantly as well. Nevertheless, when Lake got to high school next week she discovered that Will was her new teacher. Will surprised as he found out her new neighbour was he new underage student.
Apart from that Lake will find out the real reason why they moved to Michigan.

Slammed was a compelling touching book. On one hand, this book is really fast paced that I just flew by it. It helps how the writing style made you dive into the story. While I was reading Slammed I felt like when you are watching one of those films in which you know exactly what it is coming; nonetheless you keep enjoying the way it happens. I was just waiting impatiently for certain moments I was absolutely sure were going to happen, and when they happened I wasn’t disappointed at all. In addition to this, the book tries to show how people get through life in a very positive way. Not forgetting there are several beautiful emotive moments like the one on Eddie’s birthday.
On the other hand, every character in this book seemed to have huge problems in their life, there wasn’t anyone with a “normal” boring life. Also the relationship between Will and Lake becomes kind of repetitive. However, the worst part for me was the poetry. I don’t dislike poetry but I find it difficult to get the deep meaning of it, even in my own language. Reading poetry in English was really hard, as I couldn’t fully understand the meaning of it. Nonetheless, I think it was beautifully written and I am very happy I pushed myself hard hence I could get into those parts. It is also my personal opinion that trying to understand those parts helped my English.

To sum up, Slammed tells a beautiful story full of deep feelings revolving a strong attraction. It also gives a positive message about life and death. I will definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good young romance story with a mature turn.
