The Fate of Elysian by Theresa Sherron

3.0

I received this book for free from the author as part of a book tour and in exchange for an honest review. The following thoughts are my own. ✨

2.5 ⭐️ rounded up

Let me start off by saying the premise for this book was fantastic. The idea of having a city where you must find your assigned soulmate is unique and intriguing and has a lot of promise.

The part where this unfortunately fell apart for me was the editing and writing style. I had a hard time sinking into the fantasy of this book because I was too distracted by writing errors and a lack of editing in general. The plot and pacing needs a good re-work, as the first 50% dragged terribly. There was a lack of chemistry between the characters and not much development.

The pros of this book are that there was enough intrigue once I got past the 50% mark for me to finish, though I did skim heavily. The ending was action-filled and provided a good twist and cliffhanger. The imagery was decent, and the cover is beautiful. I can see the author’s intent clearly and I can feel her passion for the story.
