Read makes a story of loss, sacrifice, betrayal and love that is so significant this book is destined to be a book of the year. It is written so eloquently that it is a blessing to read and is absolutely unforgettable. It is a novel of female resilience and an exploration of the natural world that is mesmerising, heartbreaking and powerful. Read is incredibly talented and this might be one of the most beautiful books I have ever read.

It is hard not to respect Read and her achievement, even if literary fiction is not your go-to genre, the beauty of this book is unavoidable. It is perfect for fans of Weyward and the likes of Where The Crawdads Sing.

Thank you to Transworld publishing at Penguin for this advanced reading copy.
