this book was very good! it was well-written and exciting. and it reaffirmed my misandry (I HATE MEN). i thoroughly enjoyed the three different povs from three generations of the same matriarchal line. it was. nothing like i expected, though! i went in blind thinking it would be fantastical and witchy, and instead it was moving and tense. i was on edge pretty much the entire time. the magic aspect was more toned down than i expected, but i really enjoyed it. the themes of scorned women/womanhood in general and justice and fear and violence and power were all very emotional. it was a very sadly realistic look at generations of trauma that women have had to live through.

for me, personally, the book dealt with topics that i generally have on my “do not read” list. this story was told brilliantly, but it was definitely a hard read for me. while i loved the FMCs and their story, it was a bit much for me emotionally. i also feel as though the entire plot was a bit obvious from about 40% in. the writing was extremely well done though and the story was beautiful; it was just hard on me personally !! will def be checking out this author again in the future!
