I'm going back and forth with thoughts on this one. While I really enjoyed the characters, and the banter, and the beautiful prose, sometimes it felt like it was doing too much.
If the author replaced half the needless descriptions on irrelevant settings or scenery, she could have actually provided the reader with context to the world & creatures rather than plopping them a glossary that only served to disengage the reader.
I'm still giving this a 4 star though because I think this is the type of book that only gets better on re-reads.
