Leepike Ridge by N.D. Wilson

This story is one that I’ve been half putting off. It is not my typical book though I do enjoy this author. A realistic fiction story about a boy who is dragged by a river into the caves that run through a mountain. He has to survive and when he finds a dog in the same predicament he has to also make sure that the dog makes it through too. The story switches between his story and that of his mother and how after many years is allowing herself to date again after the death of her husband. Her suitor is strangely controlling and soon after he proposes another man tries to start courting her.
This is a really good story, and an amazing adventure. I didn’t know if this would be something that I would personally enjoy since it’s a realistic fiction book, and the cover made it seem stuffy but this book really was a treat to read. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good adventure story ages fourth grade on up.

-------------------------------SPOILER ALERT -----------------------
Spoiler the dog gets killed at the end, which totally is unnecessary and kinda pissed me off but.. it is still a really good book
