I really enjoyed this book!! From the start the characterization was wonderful and it was so interesting to see the contrast between Irene and Clare. Now having discussed this text in class, I was taken back with the amount of similarities between them. Since the story is told through Irene’s perspective, the narration is incredibly biased. She paints herself as being different from Clare but they are similar in more ways than one but Irene is repressing that part of her. I knew something bad was coming… and I had a gut instinct what it was going to be but I was still shocked with the ending nonetheless!
