The Fetishist by Katherine Min
2.0
misogynistic, racist white male magically turns into a good person after spending two weeks in a basement.
evocative and atmospheric, but the pathetic nature of these characters outshines the writing, unfortunately. daniel has nothing going for him. he's a horrible human being, he's quite literally penniless, and he looks like generic white guy #264. all these asian women clawing to fuck him are basically fetishizing themselves. at least with alma, there's a self awareness as she becomes older/wakes up from the coma, but in the end, she forgives the freak, so all that character development occurs for nothing.
